2022 honda ridgeline. Honda has often been relegated to Ridgeline styling, but it’s not hard to see why. The first-generation trucks had odd flying buttresses that offered rigidity and some additional cargo volume, but created a stiff beam profile. Then the second generation was launched for 2017, the designers went too far in the other direction, giving this car a comfortable and efficient in the Odyssey and Pilot. There are rumors circulating that the 2022 Honda Ridgeline will redesign some of its interior and exterior.
Pursuing a balance between style and substance, the 2021 Honda Ridgeline underwent several changes emerging from an outpatient clinic with the right proportions of a pickup. The new bodywork from the A-pillar to the front and a few minor changes to the rear bumper give the Ridgeline an entirely new stance, looking tougher than its predecessor while the 2021 Honda Ridgeline retains a smooth ride as well as a roomy interior, and smart storage solutions. As we’ve said in the past, the Ridgeline is the logical choice for most truck buyers, and finally, they don’t have to apologize for showing up in front of any of their truck friends. The decision of a vehicle that is relative only to its own segment and not to the new vehicle market as a whole.
Changes to the 2022 Honda Ridgeline Sport
Truck marketing has been dominated by the Ridgeline so we have to commend Honda for taking a measured approach to the redesigned Ridgeline front clip that has wowed consumers so much. The taller hood, more vertical grille, significantly larger headlights and square front bumper appeal to traditional truck consumers a little more than the old Pilot-inspired schnoz. At the rear, a new rear bumper with twin integrated exhaust tips adds a striking bit of muscle. The revised wheel offset slightly widens the track, and Honda collaborated with Firestone to give the all-season Destination LE a more square shoulder design.
The redesign is commendable, as any visual aggression would look like a doll shirt on this unibody pickup. Created to give the round wheel arches a squarer, more aggressive look, the fender flares actually do the opposite, dwarfing the tires sized enough for that outlandish skate look. I really hope that 2022 Honda Ridgeline is able to meet all the needs of its consumers.

The recent refresh builds on this traditional style, and while it looks more rugged than the previous model, it doesn’t look like a caricature of a truck either. Everything in front of the new A-pillar, and the grille is bigger and more vertically oriented. It gives the front clip a boxier look, and nicely complements the square style in the back. Additionally, there’s a new hockey stick-shaped intake in front of the front wheels, and since my tester was a Sport trim, it also featured black slats above the grille, black mirrors, and black window molding.
In my opinion, the blackened parts give the Sport a more purposeful look, and Honda’s Performance Development package takes it one step further. In the HPD, the Ridgeline gets a unique grille, prominent fender flares, and most importantly, trick-looking bronze alloy wheels. Personally, I can take or leave a prominent HPD flare on the back of the bed. But overall, it’s a visually cohesive kit that doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel when it comes to truck styling.

While the entry-level Sport model doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of higher-spec trims like the RTL and RTL-E, this cabin bone is fantastic. Given that most of the vehicles I’ve driven were gill-choice, it’s honestly a nice change of pace to see something in a more basic derivation of form – not that I’m left wanting much. The Sport still comes packed with content, including an eight-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, seven-speaker stereo, and tri-zone climate control, along with a pair of USB jacks. Regarding the infotainment setup, perhaps the biggest compliment I can give the Honda is that there is no learning curve involved in operating it. If you’ve used a smartphone or tablet in the last decade, you’ll have absolutely no trouble navigating menus and changing settings from the start.
Apart from user comfort I was blown away by the sheer amount of storage in the cab. The center console is very spacious, and there is more available space under the rear seats. Plus, those back seats can be folded up – similar to what they doin the long-abandoned Fit – and gives access to more cargo space. For example, I could easily load my 61-centimeter bike into the back without unpacking it, which is a level of practicality I really didn’t expect, given the truck’s relatively small footprint.
There’s also an additional 7.3 cubic feet of waterproof storage thanks to the luggage in the bed, and because it has a drain plug, it’s easy to turn into a cooler. That’s the kind of thing that would make Ridgeline owners popular at trailheads, and it speaks to how well every area of the truck is thought out.
2022 Ridgeline Honda Sport Performance
This arrangement can send 70% of the available power to the rear, and thanks to the torque vectoring, 100% of that power can be sent to one wheel. Those familiar with the Honda ecosystem will notice that the numbers are identical to Acura’s SH-AWD system, and deliver similarly inspired performance on the road.
The pickup has come a long way in terms of driving capability in recent years, it’s safe to say I’ve never ridden a rig holding the road like the Ridgeline did, the Ridgeline is still a decent pick-up. It has 33.9 cubic feet of cargo space in the bed, and can swallow objects up to four feet wide. The trick tailgate, which can drop down and barn door style open, is also dynamically rated at 300 pounds.

In testing by the general Road Traffic Safety Administration, the 2021 Ridgeline earned a Five Star rating. It was also named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. But what about the safety of the next 2022 Honda Ridgeline Sport Safety.
Each Ridgeline is equipped with the Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation Braking, Lane Keeping Assist System and Road Departure Mitigation. Higher-level trims such as the RTL-E feature additional technologies, including a Blind Spot Information System, Cross Traffic Monitor, and Auto High-Beam headlights.
Overall Honda Ridgeline Sport 2022
Given its excellent driving dynamics, everyday practicality, and solid payload rating, the Ridgeline Sport presents an attractive package for anyone looking for a pickup truck. Overall, it’s a vehicle that demonstrates the level of refinement buyers expect from Honda, but adds the ability to do truck stuff. So from that perspective, it should be a huge hit. That said, I think the biggest hurdle the Ridgeline faced in making the journey from AutoNation showrooms to customers’ garages was badge bias. The starting MSRP of the 2021 Honda Ridgeline is $36,490, and my testers came in at $40,860 after option. But we are very curious about the price of the Honda Ridgeline Sport 2022 next year with a display that will fascinate customers.
