Excellence Honda CB500F occupies a unique place in our lineup. This is a stylish aggressive streetfighter that is great for a wide variety of riders. For this year we have made some serious improvements. It now has more power, more style, better sound, and a host of other functional improvements. What hasn’t changed is the Honda CB500F’s new mission to put a new generation of riders in one of the best road machines, with opportunities ahead.
To see, Honda’s new CB500F is a huge improvement over last year’s model. It gets more aggressive LED headlights, a wider tank with clear air intakes, and a sharper, more muscular bodywork that makes it a proper ‘streetfighter mini’. The old bespoke look is gone and replaced by a machine with more attitude and presence, not afraid to show off its best parts – like that bloody ceramic-coated engine cover.
Smooth liquid-cooled 471cc parallel-twin engine quality, the same motor that was installed in the CBR500R and CB500X. However, the boffins at Honda slightly modified the fuel mapping on the F to improve low-to-midrange torque, with a maximum of 43Nm (31ft-lbs) at 6,500 rpm. The ’19 model also delivers a 4% increase in power over last year’s model, making the A2’s maximum power match 35KW (47bhp) @ 8600rpm.
The bike’s new super lightweight slipper clutch helps maintain composure under harsh braking and heavy downshifts, even though I struggled to shift it into corners… No hooliganism of that sort occurred. On a fast and smooth 6-speed upshift gearbox, it smoothly pulls you to the national speed limit – and a little further.
As you pick up speed, the standard twin-port exhaust sounds fine, but some more noise would be ideal, especially if you’re traveling and want to grab people’s attention as you pass through traffic.
Frame and Suspension
The engine is mounted in the same tubular steel diamond as the previous model, and there are no complaints from the department here – the chassis is structured and balanced although the fork can be adjusted to an initial 120mm load, it’s a bit unattractive. The front-end setup certainly isn’t as tight as some of the bikes in this class, but they do a pretty decent job. The introduction of the luxurious-looking pro-link single piston rear shock rounds out the package nicely. On Tenerife’s tight twisty roads, everything seems to communicate well despite the basic exterior suspension.
Features of Honda CB500F
DOHC TWIN-CYLINDER ENGINE
The Honda twin is renowned for its versatility, and the CB500F’s engine is one of the best ever. With increased horsepower and low-end torque this year, the parallel-twin offers accessible performance across all RPM ranges.
PROGRAMED FUEL INJECTION (PGM-FI)
The new injectors on the 2019 Honda CB500F are part of the reason the motor produces more power in the critical 3000-7000 RPM range. PGM-FI motorcycles continuously monitor several variables to ensure performance and performance of their mixed fuels are properly delivered for the prevailing riding and atmospheric conditions for sharp throttle response in a wide range of riding conditions.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS)
The ABS available on the CB500F helps you make smoother, more controlled stops in less than ideal conditions.
The new slipper/assist clutch allows us to reduce clutch lever effort by up to 45 percent, but automatically locks tightly when you release it.
The new, modern, easy-to-read LCD display has a digital speedometer and tachometer and more, including a clock, odometer, trip meter, real-time and average fuel consumption gauge, and an illuminated engine diagnostic indicator.
The 320mm front and 240mm rear disc brakes feature drilled petal-shaped rotors that provide strong stopping power.
LED FRONT LIGHTS
The new CB500F dual-lens LED headlights provide a sophisticated front view and also project a lot of light on the road for visibility.
Honda engineers fixed the shift dog in the transmission to help you get a smoother shift every time. and surely you will never see this part, but you will feel the amazing effect.
The CB500F offers a low-height stair seat. Perfect for touring the city or out in the canyons, it also offers plenty of room for passengers and is specially designed to fit various riders.
Sturdy passenger handles provide security for your passengers or fastening points for smaller items.
Less is more when it comes to the Honda CB500F. With its sleek and progressive styling, the CB500F is a motorcycle that looks great but still delivers great value and performance. New for 2019: check out Grand Prix Red with updated graphics and a matte silver panel.
The CB500F compact exhaust system gets twin mufflers – New outlets and larger diameter pipes this year, for more power and a more pleasing exhaust tone.
Strong and stylish, the CB500F cast aluminum Y-spoke alloy wheels are easy to clean, look good, and are another feature of the sensible CB500F.
PRO-LINK REAR SUSPENSION
The state-of-the-art chassis with Honda Pro-Link rear suspension, nine-stage preload and 4.7-inch travel gives you a comfortable ride over small bumps, while taking advantage of greater bump absorption for increased ride and handling comfort. For 2019, the Honda CB500F also gets a new shock with a larger internal diameter for a better ride.
STEEL TUBE FRAME
The Honda CB500F motorcycle frame is the basis for handling it. Stronger and lighter, the Honda CB500F’s diamond-shaped 35mm steel tube mainframe ties the engine to four seats, offering a solid foundation for superior travel and handling.
